Turnkey Mediation Centers

Turnkey Mediation Centers

ADR Center has worked at the cutting edge of mediation and ADR for over 18 years and has specialized in delivering turnkey mediation centers. Turnkey mediation centers are centers that are immediately ready to open and provide services upon implementation. Each center is completed to the client’s specifications and includes all of the steps involved to open a running and successful center.

ADR Center has a proven record of developing different types up mediation centers, including setting up Multi-Door Courthouses, Court-annexed Mediation Centers and stand-alone mediation centers, in Asia, Africa, Central America and Europe. Our unique and proven approach in setting up mediation centers for Courts, Ministers of Justice, Bar Associations, Chambers of Commerce, Trade Associations, City Councils and private firms has ensured long term sustainability.

Turnkey mediation projects have traditionally included the following components:

  • Needs assessment. A needs assessment is conducted to customize the approach to the local jurisdiction. A mediation center can be designed to serve different target groups (from local communities to Courts and Business Associations) and for different kinds of disputes (from small claims or family disputes to highly complex legal matters).
  • Manuals and Rules. A complete set of manuals and rules will be designed and provided, containing the mediation rules, fee structures, procedures, case management, and the best physical design/layout for the center, along with all the information needed to successfully manage the center.
  • Courts and the Judiciary. In the case of a court-annexed center, a protocol of understanding will be proposed, together with a comprehensive referral scheme. Workshops for judges on mediation referral will also be conducted.
  • Marketing and Business Plan. In the case of a stand-alone mediation center, a marketing plan will be prepared, based on a unique business model which takes into account segmentation of the value of the cases and specialization of the disputes’ subject matter. In addition, a detailed cost-profit plan will be developed. A template of a series of brochures and a website with proven-effective text will also be provided.
  • Mediators. We will select and train mediators to international standards. During the first mediations, our expert mediators will mentor and coach the newly trained mediators.
  • Trainings. Trainings for the center staff including specialized training for the case managers has traditional been held. Additionally, train the trainer trainings can also be held. The completed materials will be provided to the client so they are then able to hold these trainings on their own.
  • Awareness workshops. Several awareness workshops will be held targeted to different audiences. One will target lawyers, general counsel and executives. Another will target communities most likely to use the services of the center. Additional workshops targeted to other groups can also be held.
  • Twinning agreements. During the setup phase and the first months of operation, a “twinning” agreement will be in effect, pairing the center with ADR Center, in order to provide all concerned with ready access to specialized expertise and to resolve any difficulties in “real time.”
